Crisis Closet
We do not give out money to those who are in need. However, we are willing to help where we can. We have a “Crisis Closet” that has food and other essentials. If you are struggling to afford these things, we are willing to help. We can provide this service to you once every 3 months.
Shades of Kindness
Shades of Kindness is a ministry to the homeless and to those who may need a little extra help. Keith & Ethel Johnson work to provide essential needs to homeless people around SWLA, as well as, sharing the gospel and the hope of Christ with them.
Shades of Kindness also has a “Blessing Box” in front of our building. Take what you need and leave what you can. Stop by to take or leave some non-perishable foods!
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is one of the BIGGEST outreach events we do every year! It is geared towards children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. There is always a fun theme whether it is space, undersea, jungle, detectives, sports, cowboys, or countless other options! The children come and learn fun songs, have snacks, make crafts, play games! More importantly, we teach the children about Jesus and what He has done for us! We show the children the importance of memorizing Bible scripture. We show them that they can spend eternity with Him in heaven if they will simply Admit they are a sinner, Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, Call on the name of the Lord to save them, and Confess that they are a sinner.
We pack all of this fun, excitement, and truth into 5 nights each summer! On the last night of VBS, we invite the parents to come for family night! At family night, we share the songs and the truth that we have been teaching the children throughout the week with their parents!
VBS is ALWAYS a blast! The kids leave excited and singing the songs they have learned for months to come!
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is a program by Samaritan’s Purse in which we pack toys, coloring books, school supplies, personal items, and more into shoe boxes! These shoe boxes are then sent to children all over the world that will not receive a Christmas present otherwise. It is a great program and we are proud to participate every year!
Learn more about it on the Samaritan’s Purse website!
